Facial Recognition for a Secure, Contactless Check-in

Check-in is one of the most time-consuming processes in hospitality. For years, hoteliers around the world have been trying to improve efficiency using technology. With the COVID-19 pandemic surging, social distancing has made remote, contactless check-in a must.

How it Works

Ameniti’s standard hospitality service begins by automatically sending a conversational link to guests on the morning of check-in.

Upon visiting the link, guests upload a picture of the front and back of their Photo ID. This data is automatically matched with reservation records to verify the guest’s identity. After matching is complete, the guest uploads a “selfie”.

Facial recognition is used to ensure that facial patterns in the “selfie” match the Photo ID provided.

Completing this process remotely and automatically eliminates the need to provide physical identification at check-in, keeping both guests and staff protected.

Why it’s Important

Facial Recognition is one of the most effective components of a touchless, remote and secure check-in. Minimizing interactions is a significant part of keeping guests and staff safe. This, in turn, will keep doors open and prevent outbreaks.

Another benefit is peace of mind for guests. Preventive measures show that you care, and guests will feel comfortable staying at your hotel (and recommending it to others) if they see these measures being implemented.

One Piece of the Puzzle

Implementing facial and data recognition is an excellent first step for a remote, contactless check-in that minimizes face-to-face contact with staff. However, even more can be done to make a fully-remote, automated check-in possible. The following additions are especially useful in combination with facial recognition:

Automated Payment with PCI Links

  • A PCI link is sent to each guest to securely introduce a Credit Card number.

  • The card is then tokenized in the PMS, and the PMS will automatically process the payment according to the reservation (including charges for both the stay and incidentals).

  • The guest simply needs to swipe their Credit Card upon arrival to ensure 100% compliance.

Health Check-ins

  • These are sent through any channel (SMS is the most popular), and can be sent before arrival or at designated intervals throughout the stay.

  • Guests can continue chatting with our automated assistant for any needs or concerns throughout the stay.

  • Daily Check-ins and Staff Check-ins are also available if desired.

Mobile Key Credentials

  • For hotels utilizing mobile key options, Ameniti provides automatic delivery of these credentials with Leading BLE Lock vendors as well.
