How Geolocalization is Improving Customer Experiences

Geolocalization works by detecting a user’s current location in order to deliver goods, services or tailored recommendations. This technology is on the rise, and now is the perfect time for your business to implement it.

Why Implement Geolocalization?

Here at Ameniti, we honed in on the potential of Geolocalization to enhance our standard customer communication and operations offerings early on. As a result, we have seamlessly integrated the technology to help our clients deliver the best service - while saving time and money. Harnessing Geolocalization can help coordinate deliveries, requests and more for any industry or business, while providing a tailored customer experience.

Geolocalization in Practice

Geolocalization can be put to use in a variety of scenarios. Take hospitality, for example. A resort has food and drink available for delivery in several different outdoor areas, including patios, pools, sporting areas and even the beach. Typically, this would mean limiting service to specific locations, or sending waitstaff around constantly to take orders and distribute menus. Geolocalization, in conjunction with other communication services, allows the resort to collect orders virtually and then pinpoint the guest’s location for fulfillment. Orders can be delivered anywhere, even if the guest has moved or is difficult to find. Thanks to Geolocalization, guests and staff alike will see instant improvement in their everyday experiences. Similar technologies are used by restaurants offering delivery services and curbside pickup, as well as other businesses outside hospitality.

How Location Sharing Works

The process of location sharing is dependent on the user’s communication channel, although the same underlying technology is used. Ameniti’s services cover three main categories of channels: messaging (i.e. SMS, social messaging apps, etc.), voice and IVR. In all cases, the user must give permission to share their location. For messaging and voice, users receive a link to grant location permission. Those making requests through calls can utilize an automated verbal confirmation. Our measures keep information secure and provide peace of mind for both business owners and their clients.

Integration Potential

There are countless applications for Geolocalization, so we strive to include as many integrations as possible in our service.

For example, one interesting option is to integrate BLE Beacons, devices that transmit signals, which can be picked up by smartphones and other bluetooth-enabled electronics. This allows for notifications when users are in close proximity to a beacon, such as upon entering or exiting a building. BLE beacons are the best technology for Geolocalization in vertical environments, such as buildings with many floors.

Other integrations include menu and ordering solutions for hotels and restaurants, which were used to provide comprehensive service in the example above. Right now, Geolocalization can be integrated with COVID-19 specific communication services to trigger health check-ins at a specific location, or to dispense information on policies as users enter a building. The potential is endless, so let us know if there’s an integration you’d like to implement that you don’t see here!
